Hess Gas Station

A gas station was built at 1431 Mt. Hope sometime before 1945, and was eventually operated by Amerada Hess. The city widened Mt. Hope Avenue in 2013, which removed some of the gas pumps and made it unsuitable a a service station.  The station was demolished and the land sold to the University in 2014.  CVS leased the property and built a new store that opened in October 2016, replacing their store at the southeast corner of Mt. Hope Avenue and Elmwood, which became a Dollar Tree.
