Garden Tips
|
- It's not too early to begin
planting your flower garden for next year. Evaluate your current
garden and note the items that did well in this summer's drought,
plants that handled the shade well, or just colors and textures
that you like.
- Begin your planning with spring
bulbs. Now is the time to select and begin to prepare the garden
area for planting. Consider in your plans utilizing the bulbs in
clusters, planting them in a pit six inches deep (depending on
specific bulb recommendations) in quantities from 6 to 12. Space
bulbs 4 to 5 inches apart in the pit, depending on bulb size.
This will give you areas of brilliant color in your yard next
spring.
- Now utilize the information you
gathered on this past year's annual flowers to create next year's
garden design. Consider using perennials as "anchor"
plants in your annual displays. This will provide a yearly base
of materials from which you can supplement with the annual
flowers' brilliance and profusion.
